Didactic sense ...Maybe

Posted: Friday, 22 Feb 2002 11:54 AM -- by Julian as Pixelboy

Mike

Thanks for your information. I see that you noticed the absence of ¨that¨ little cookie.
At present some friends and me are trying to give shape for start a dinamic signage business.
Thanks to Momir Zecevic and Mike Olausson who gave us important clues for this issue we are defining the best choice
for our purposes. Also were looking for investors or somebody who trust on us. Always starting a business has its difficulties.
So we keep Scala in mind for further support for this and -obviously- for buy the software. Thanks to the scalable architecture,
that scala´s software offer, things will be easier.

A suggest: It would be better that all this new information (specially that about how this kind of business works) were complemented with some grafics,
so people like me who are ¨newbies¨will understand clearer all this stuff. For example: PC designer (draw) -------> PC player (draw) (suggested output hardware)------>wiring, satellite ------> plasma.....etc. something like this. All of this with poits where Scala can support totally or not with pricing.
So the people who reached this excelent website simply beacuse they were looking only for dinamic or digital signage networking basis can be potential
customers in the future for the enlightened info. Although, this is not the real purpose of Scala, but I think if you give it a little bit
of didactic sense the people can become more enthusiastic about Scala´s world. Remember that not everybody were born
¨big¨ with the knowledge that this area demands. Just it´s my point of view,a comment. I hope it could be useful for you on anyway.

Very nice website again.

Thank you!!

Julian

Very nice guys but....

I think the Subject area in the forum should be a little longer. Or the text a little smaller.

Searches! When are we going to be able to search the past posts again?

Cheers,

ICD3 sounds great! Updates?

Posted: Thursday, 21 Feb 2002 3:07 PM -- by Eduardo Zertuche

ICD3 sounds great! I liked specially the part about the undos... I don't care if they are not unlimited... just undoing will make things a lot easier... also the AVI export bit...

Can we look forward to an upgrade? how soon?

Great work with the website

IC3 Web Orders being taken

Posted: Thursday, 21 Feb 2002 2:40 PM -- by Mike Levin

Julian,

3rdparty components and file exchange will be returning shortly. With such a major Website revision, I had to shut off some areas, but will be turning them on as time allows. My real priority is Web Store, so you can all buy right here off of the Scala Website.

This will be done in the next 2 weeks. If you want to Order IC3 NOW, just use the Send Scala A Message system http://www.scala.com/asp/message.asp stating you want to buy. I'll follow up with you to collect shipment and payment information in a secure way.

This is the most exciting time in Scala's history. I think Scala is increasing all of your professional value by increasing the market and the demand for Scala know-how. I hope that buys us a couple of weeks to get the supply of product flowing -- and all the Website information that I know you need.

MIssing, perhaps--folks we are *busy*

Posted: Thursday, 21 Feb 2002 9:48 AM -- by John Schilling

john schillingThe Trial, Pricing, etc. is *coming*.

The reality is that:

1) We are a small company
2) We have to prioritize things
3) We prioritize in "revenue 1st" order.

CD Publishing is in the product.

The upgrade price is reasonable.

This week we are running around at to Dealers and Value Added Resellers. They get the pricing info 1st. [e.g. its nice to tell the guy who buys $750,000 of your product per year what the price is going to be before he finds it out from the guy who buys one $900 product every three years.]

After the Dealers and VAR Product Intro/Sales meetings are done, then we will have the time to get the trial version on the WWW Site, (lots of work in testing the new version of the "Limited Time Trail Wrapper" software), the E-commerse for the the upgrades, usw.

Guys--we love you to death--its just that we love the guy who cuts us a $300,000/QTR check just a little bit more!

Am I Missing Something?

Posted: Thursday, 21 Feb 2002 9:12 AM -- by Scott

Where is the Pricing Information for IC 3.
Where is the Trial For IC 3.
Why do you publish information about a new product and then hang us out to dry? We are all dying to know when we can get it, or at least look at it in demo mode.
When are you going to post specific pricing info?
I'm sorry if I have missed all of this information but I can't seem to find it anywhere!

Thank You

THANKS Momir , I think we get so excited we step over the lines we read.
For those who are reading here i quote fom the Scala page mentioned above

"New design elements include alpha-transparency, new wipes and improved text crawl as well as new true type fonts and background designs. In addition, presentations can be published to a variety of media including video, HTML slides, CD and email, among others"

Nice web site !

Now that it is done, we the user would love to hear from you guys some details:

1- like Andy Anderson I felt the lack of information on cd-rom(or dvd-rom) authoring
gave me butterflies. I'm in the middle of a promotional CD for my business and I'm concerned
what I'm offering is not available anymore

2- Suggestion: Why don't you put a simple form for current users to fill in
and receive via email a detailed product description with upgrade path
before the campaingn begins?

3- I see no mention of publishing a script to AVI. Have I missed it?

Well, one way or the other Scala can't complain about loyalty ! , we are a bunch of Scala adicts anyway !

Good luck on the new products, and looking forward to really hearing from you guys !

ICD3 Correction. . .

Posted: Wednesday, 20 Feb 2002 2:22 PM -- by Mike Roberts

Opps. . . I miss quoted the ICD3 undo limits. The statement reads, multiple undos, not unlimited. Hey, I am VERY happy to see undos period! Grids, etc. are also welcomed.

mike

ICD3 Looks very good!

Posted: Wednesday, 20 Feb 2002 2:17 PM -- by Mike Roberts

Finally, it is good to see undos. Not only undos, but unlimited undos. Great to hear. Text crawl is also a welcomed feature.

I too hope that CD creation is not a gonner. It is a very valueable feature of ICD.

I do hope we have a reasonable update price available soon.

Great Job Scala. . . :)

Mike

Congratulations!!

IC3 replaces IC200

Posted: Wednesday, 20 Feb 2002 12:22 PM -- by Ed Wiser

If I am right Andy IC3 is a replacement for IC200 not ICD. At least that is my impression of how it is.

A little paranoia

Posted: Wednesday, 20 Feb 2002 12:14 PM -- by Andy Anderson

Perhaps I'm overreacting but I see no mention of cd-rom authoring in the new product line. Mostly dynamic signage and plasma screens. Will ICD be the last product to do CD publishing? I know more details are forthcoming but I'm sensing a major change in the focus of the product line. How about a sevice pack that adds undo to the current ICD. That will keep me happy while I may have to learn another authoring program.
